Engineering Technician

We are hiring: Engineering Technician

Preferred Engineering is a small, fast paced company producing unique outage support equipment and solutions for the nuclear power industry, developing bespoke products from concept to end-use.

We are searching for an enthusiastic, hands-on, mechanically inclined individual to join our team in Danbury CT.

Our products include; mechanical and pneumatic tooling, electro-mechanical tooling and equipment, structural installations, and pressure vessels (among others). The equipment and tooling varies from remotely actuated-limited access-deployable pressure boundaries, to simple hand tools designed to limit time and dose, to large electro-mechanical structures such as man-lifts and auxiliary cavity platforms.

Our tight-knit team shares responsibilities at all levels of design and production, seeing product development through from concept to end-use.

You would:

· Perform the final fabrication, assembly, and testing of the equipment.

· Maintain the readiness of our shop environment and test equipment.

· Perform quality control inspections.

· Help in development and implementation of test equipment and procedures.

· Travel to our customers’ sites to provide technical assistance in the end-use and maintenance of our equipment.

We follow strict Quality Assurance practices throughout our process.

Desirable skills include:

· Associate of science in mechanical engineering technology, or a similar field, or demonstrated mechanical experience.

· Be creative and hands-on, with good mechanical ability.

· Simple machining or welding skill are a plus.

· Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and schematics.

· Familiarity with 3D CAD is a plus (we use Solidworks).

· Be detail orientated when needed, with strong self-correcting instincts.

· Have excellent written and oral communication.

· Have strong interpersonal skills.

Nuclear industry experience is a plus, but it is not a requirement. You will be provided with the training needed to work safely and effectively with our equipment in this unique setting.

We are able to offer competitive salaries, commensurate with experience, and an extensive benefit package including medical and dental, retirement (401K), paid absent leave, and profit sharing (among others).

Base Salary Range: $58 – 83k
